Choices shaping dementia trial participation

About CHOICE-D

CHOICE-D is a research study exploring what influences people’s decisions about taking part in dementia clinical trials.

Many dementia trials struggle to recruit enough participants.
We want to understand why people might choose to join, or not join, these studies.

Understanding Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are used to compare the effects of treatments or interventions, such as new medicines, therapies, or ways of delivering care.

About our project

This survey aims to understand key factors that influence willingness to take part in dementia clinical trials.

We want to understand:

  • Key motivations and concerns of taking part in trials
  • Opinions on common trial procedures like brain scans, genetic testing, and lumbar punctures
  • Acceptability of taking part in trials digitally
  • Preferences for practical issues such as travel time, parking, and financial reimbursement.

Taking part in the survey

Your views can help shape how future dementia trials are designed, enabling researchers to better understand how to design dementia trials that people feel more comfortable and willing to join. You do not need to have participated in a clinical trial before.

Who can take part?

We are inviting:

  • Adults aged 18 or over
  • Anyone with an interest in dementia and/or dementia research
